Private equity firm Brynwood Partners has announced that it has agreed the acquisition of Sunny Delight Beverages from JW Childs.
Based in Cincinnati, OH, USA, Sunny Delight Beverages was formed by JW Childs in 2004 in order to acquire the Sunny Delight brand from Procter & Gamble. Sunny Delight became an independent national beverage company and now turns over more than $400 million in gross sales, operates four manufacturing facilities across the US and holds a portfolio including the Sunny Delight, Fruit2O and Veryfine brands.
The move expands Brynwood Partners’ presence in the soft drinks space, following on from the firm’s acquisition of the Juicy Juice brand from Nestle in 2014.
Brynwood Partners chairman and CEO Henk Hartong III said: “We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Sunny Delight. The iconic Sunny Delight brand, with its highly recognizable bottle design, has a loyal customer following and is an important brand for retailers in the U.S. and Canada, we look forward to working collaboratively with the company’s Cincinnati-based management team to grow the storied Sunny Delight brand. While separate operating companies, Sunny Delight and its Brynwood VII sister company, Harvest Hill Beverage Company (owner of the Juicy Juice, Hug and Daily’s brands), will explore ways to seek synergies that could benefit both companies”.
The transaction is expected to close during Q1 2016, subject to regulatory approval.
