The Australian arm of FMCG multinational Unilever has launched a green tea said to have been blended “to remove any bitter aftertaste”.

According to an article in Australian Food News, the new Lipton Delicately Fresh Green Tea was developed following consumer research that revealed consumers tended to avoid green tea due to the often bitter after-taste.

The new launch “is uniquely blended with steamed Green Tea leaves, to give your tea a delicate taste without the bitterness”, according to the company website, which additionally recommends brewing the tea for a maximum of two minutes.

Lipton marketing manager Julianna Fallet commented: “By changing our blend we have reduced any unwanted aftertastes so tea lovers can enjoy a cup of green tea from start to finish”.

The Delicately Fresh range is available in the varieties Lively Pure,  Brilliant Mint, Joyful Jasmine and Vibrant Vanilla, priced at A$4.79 ($3.74) for a 40 count box.
