AG Barr, the Scotland-based soft drinks firm, has announced the launch of a new range called Street Drinks to be marketed under its Rubicon brand.
Promising “a whole new world of refreshment”, Rubicon Street Drinks are sasid to feature four unique flavours “inspired by authentic street drinks from some of the world’s hottest places”.
The blends of still fruit juice, natural flavours and herbs are being sold in brightly coloured 330ml cans that will retail at £0.79 ($1.06). The varieties available are Sharbat, described as featuring the traditional Turkish flavour combination of pomegranate and rose; Aqua Fresca, a Mexican inspired soft drink containing watermelon, lime and mint flavouring; the Indian-inspired Nimbu Pani, with lemon, cumin and mint flavours; and Bissap, a drink influenced by African tradition featuring hibiscus and ginger flavouring.
Commenting on the launch, Barr Soft Drinks marketing director Adrian Troy said: “Street food has captured the imagination of UK consumers in recent years and now Rubicon Street Drinks will enable consumers to discover a world of exciting, new soft drinks, using authentic flavours from the world’s hottest streets. People are becoming much more adventurous and are keen to explore new and fun flavours, both in food and drink. They are very motivated by authenticity and provenance and want to know the story of where the product comes from”.
