Leading beverage maker Asahi has announced the launch of a new coffee jelly drink under the long established coffee brand Wonda.

The new Wonda Shake Jelly Coffee is presented in a plastic bottle and is sold with a separate sachet of milk powder that is designed to be mixed into the drink before being consumed. In this way consumers are said to be able to ‘customise’ the ‘milkiness’ of the drink, as well as its texture: 10 ‘shakes’ are said to leave bigger jelly chunks, while 20 to 30 shakes are said to result in a smoother jelly, and more than 30 shakes are said to created a “melting, whipped” texture.

Wonda Shake Jelly Coffee comes in Horoama Black (Lightly Sweetened Black) and Maroyaka Caramel (Milk Caramel) flavours, the former described as “sweetened black coffee” made with deep roasted blended beans and sugar, and the latter as having a sweet caramel flavour.

The new product will be sold as a limited edition from 3rd October, carrying a suggested retail price of ¥165 ($1.50).
