DMK, the German dairy firm, is to expand its production facilities at Struckhausen, Germany for the manufacture of infant formula, according to a report in Just Food.
The expanded facility will reportedly begin manufacturing the Humana formula brand, previously produced as part of a joint venture between DMK and baby food firm Hipp at Herford, North Rhine Westphalia. . Earlier in December, it was announced that Hipp would take over control of the operation in Herford, with DMK selling its stake in the venture.
Speaking to Just Food, DMK said the sale of the stake was part of its “strategy of further investment in the baby food sector on the basis of the international Humana brand”.
Plans for the Struckhausen site, which previously manufactured ice cream before switching to milk powder, were first mooted in early 2016, with Nordwest Zeitung at the time reporting on an investment “in the millions (of euros)” at the plant.
