Alcoholic drinks firm Diageo has announced the opening of a new distribution centre in the city of Extrema in Brazil’s Minais Gerais state.
The centre, which opened its doors on 2nd February, is intended to consolidate operations from three other facilities and will be responsible for supplying 60% of national demand, according to sources.
The new distribution centre is the company’s second largest in Latin America and it will be used both for warehousing and for distribution operations, including stock control and security. The complex will be operated by ID Logistics.
Diageo currently operates in 180 countries with more than 200 beverage brands, 30 of which are sold in Brazil. Its units employ more than 27,000 people around the world.
Financial details of the investment were not disclosed.
