Leading Danish brewer Carlsberg has entered into an agreement to acquire Wernesgrüner brewery from Bitburger Braugruppe.
The Wernesgrüner brand is included in the deal and according to sources, it is one of the most traditional German beer brands which will give Carlsberg a better position in its core regions of northern and eastern Germany.
The addition of Wernesgrüner brewery to Carlsberg network will improve efficiency and flexibility in production and logistics to its German business.
CEO Cees’t Hart says: “The acquisition of the Wernesgrüner Brewery will strengthen our position in our core regions of northern and eastern Germany. We will be able to offer a stronger portfolio to our customers, and the acquisition will bring considerable benefits in both production and logistics.”
