Leading Danish brewer Carlsberg has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Wernesgruner brewery from Bitburger Braugruppe.
According to Carlsberg, Wernesgruner is one of the most traditional German beer brands and will give Carlsberg a better position in northern and eastern Germany.
The addition of the Wernesgruner brewery to theCarlsberg network will improve efficiency and flexibility in production and logistics to its German business, the company added.
Commenting on the deal, Carlsberg CEO Cees’t Hart said: “The acquisition of the Wernesgrüner Brewery will strengthen our position in our core regions […]. We will be able to offer a stronger portfolio to our customers, and the acquisition will bring considerable benefits in both production and logistics”.
