Cawston Press, the UK soft drinks producer, has acquired full ownership of LA Brewery, a premium kombucha manufacturer, to expand its non-alcoholic beverage portfolio. The deal follows an initial investment made earlier this year, giving Cawston Press complete control of all shares.
Founded in 2017 by Louise Avery, LA Brewery crafts sparkling fermented Sencha tea beverages positioned as non-alcoholic alternatives to wine. Distributed through retailers including Ocado and Amazon, the brand recently refreshed its packaging format by introducing slimline cans alongside its 750ml bottles. Avery will remain with the business in an advisory role.
The acquisition follows Cawston Press’s addition of non-alcoholic beer brand Loah earlier this year. According to reports, LA Brewery secured £1 million ($1.3 million) from shareholders in late 2025 following a period of losses, subsequently closing its Suffolk factory to transition manufacturing to a co-packer.
Steve Kearns, managing director of Cawston Press, cited consistent consumer demand for high-quality non-alcoholic drinks as a key driver behind the acquisition. In 2025, Cawston Press reported a 9% rise in revenues to £24 million ($31.5 million).
