Refresco, the global beverage solutions specialist, has sold the brand rights of its fruit drinks brand Wicky to local Dutch soft beverages business Riedel. While the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, both firms released a joint statement indicating that the agreement will allow the Wicky brand to realise its full potential.

Sold across the Netherlands and Belgium, Wicky is a fruit drink brand available in flavours including raspberry, orange and strawberry. Under the terms of the agreement, Refresco’s Benelux unit will remain responsible for producing the brand.

Riedel, which has been owned by the Dutch investment firm Standard Investment since 2017, is a market leader in the Dutch fruit beverage category with a brand portfolio that includes Appelsientje, CoolBest and DubbelFrisss.

Alexander van Assouw, the managing director of Refresco’s Benelux arm, commented: “We are confident that Riedel, with its proven brand expertise, can give Wicky the attention and support it deserves and take the brand into its next phase”.

The transaction follows Refresco’s deal last month to acquire the business operations of insolvent German mineral water and soft drinks group Rhenser Mineralbrunnen.
