PepsiCo, the leading food and drinks multinational, has announced it has entered a definitive agreement to acquire BFY Brands, the makers of the PopCorners snack line, for an undisclosed sum.
The firm said the addition of BFY Brands would expand Frito-Lay’s snacking portfolio and “further deliver on its Winning with Purpose vision to offer consumers more positive nutritious options”.
PopCorners is descirbed as a high growth, better-for-you popped corn snack sold in the club and grocery segments within the US and Canada, and with a presence in over 40 countries and territories worldwide. BFY employs approximately 750 staff, primarily at its manufacturing facilities in Middletown, NY, and Liberty, NY.
Commenting on the deal, PepsiCo Foods North America CEO Steven Williams said: “BFY Brands offers distinctive products that deliver the great taste and ingredients consumers are looking for. Their production capabilities will support the growth of our existing, more-nutritious snack brands”.
