Nestle Waters is looking to expand its carbonated water business in the USA as sales of bottled water begin to outpace soft drinks, according to a report in the Wall St Journal cited by CPSnet.
The company will tap into the trend for flavoured waters both by launching new products and by expanding capacity, with seven new production lines set to be built in 2015.
New products are said to include a green apple flavour under the Perrier sparkling water brand and a cherry-lemon flavour for Poland Spring. Many of the new varieties will reportedly also feature redeveloped packaging such as ‘slim’ can formats.
Speaking to the Wall St Journal, Nestle Waters North America CEO Tim Brown said that the sparkling water division of Nestle Waters had grown almost twice as fast as the still water division in 2014, with sales increasing by 14%.
