USA: Nestle explores 3D printed “alarm clock” packaging for Nescafe coffee

Nestle has launched 200 limited edition jars for its Nescafe coffee fitted with “alarm clocks” in the cap, as part of its “Wake Up To Life” campaign.

The alarm clocks feature seven different tones synchronized with small pulsing lights designed to gently rouse the consumer from sleep.

According to PSFK, each “alarm cap” is made via high resolution 3D printing and assembled by hand. The cap features an LED interface on its underside that allows the consumer to set the alarm to the desired time. The alarm is only turned off when the cap is unscrewed and removed from the jar, thus encouraging consumers to have a cup of coffee as part of their early morning routine.

Publicis Mexico’s Innovation Labs developed the concepts and NOTLabs created the product.
