Kroger, the leading US grocery retailer, has announced a partnership with plant-based food developer Impossible Foods to expand Kroger’s meat-free offering under the private label Home Chef brand, according to a Food Business News report.
The Home Chef brand, which Kroger acquired in 2018, is said to encompass more than 500 products including ready meals, meal kits, and ready-to-eat products.
Commenting on the partnership, Stuart W Aitken, chief merchandising and marketing officer for Kroger, said: “We are incredibly proud of our Home Chef brand, which became a $1 billion brand in 2021. […] Our assortment is connecting with the customer through ready-to-eat meals, rotating seasonal programs, new appetizers as well as our first plant-based protein, in partnership with Custom Made Meals and Impossible (Foods)”.
