Uruguayan firm Plucky, a producer of confectionery, snack and ice cream products and part of the multinational Bimbo group, is to open a new plant to manufacture products with significant export potential, according to a report in El Pais.

Among the products set to be manufactured at the new plant are cereal bars, sandwich cookies, nougat, alfajores, Easter eggs and coated products such as chocolate coated peanuts, in addition to the firm’s flagship chocolate coated meringue under the Ricardito brand

Commenting on the move, Bimbo Uruguay’s operations manager for Plucky Pedro Pasquet described Ricardito as a product with “very good prospects” for regional export regionally, noting the firm would invest in “extending shelf life, which will allow us to place Ricardito in markets further afield”.
