UK bakery manufacturer Warburtons has submitted proposals to build a new research and development centre at its base in Bolton, Lancashire, according to a report in the Bolton News.
Designs have been set out for a two-storey building with a total area of 2,278 sq metre to be added outside the company’s headquarters. If approved, the facility will reportedly be focused on the testing and production of new bakery products including quality control laboratories and dry stores.
Commenting on the move, the company is quoted as saying: “As an ambitious business Warburtons are proud to be the number one bakery brand in the UK but have ambition to become Britain’s best food business”.
The firm added: “To facilitate this goal new state of the art facilities are required for the company’s dedicated product development team and a key base for their head of innovation to develop new ways of giving British families great quality, great tasting food that fits in with their daily lives”.
