Unilever has announced that it has expanded its frozen dessert portfolio with the acquisition of the Minneapolis-based ice cream firm Talenti Gelato & Sorbetto.
The purchase adds a complementary packaged gelato to the company’s ice cream category, joining brands such as Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers, Fruttare, Good Humor, Klondike, Magnum and Popsicle, Unilever said in a statement
Talenti products are made from the finest ingredients and using artisanal production methods, the company added. The brand’s gelatos and sorbetto are available in 30 flavours and packaged in a clear, reusable plastic jar.
“Welcoming Talenti to the Unilever family marks another step in our North America portfolio transformation”, said Kees Kruythoff, President of Unilever North America. “The acquisition widens Unilever’s position in the fast-growing gelato market with its artisanal offerings and its clear, distinct and recyclable packaging. We are looking forward to growing and developing this fantastic brand further”.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
