UK retailer Tesco is tapping into demand for home-prepared foods with the launch of a new kit containing the essential elements to make pickled onions.
Tesco Pickle Your Own Home Pickling Kit comes as a box containing a bag of baby onions, a bottle of malt vinegar and an airtight pickling jar. Packs also contain a recipe and instructions on how to prepare the perfect pickles.
The kits are being produced for Tesco by G’s Fresh, a supplier of vegetable produce to UK retailers. G’s account manager Sally Beeton commented: “Pickling is on the rise, and has been highlighted as very ‘on trend’ with foodie consumers. The G’s business specialises in this area and has used this expertise to create a kit for home use”.
Meanwhile Emma Williams, Tesco’s commercial manager, added: “The new product launch is in response to working with our suppliers in higlighting products that are important to our customers. This enables us to produce an offer that is both relevant and forward thinking. With the Christmas season fast approaching they also offer an alternative to the regular gifts of socks and slippers”.
Tesco Pickle Your Own pickling kits are being made available for a limited period, priced at £5 ($7.79) each.
