Irish snacks firm Tayto has announced the acquisition of meat snack maker The Real Pork Crackling for an undisclosed sum.
Established for over 25 years, The Real Pork Crackling produces pork scratchings and owns leading pork crackling brands such as Golden Pork Crunch, and has listings in major UK supermarket chains such as Asda, Co-Op, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s.
The deal to buy The Real Pork Crackling is the latest in a string on acquisitions for Tayto, including Pop Notch this May and, in early 2017, Portlebay Popocorn and Tavern Snacks. The Real Pork Crackling will join existing Tayto brands such as Golden Wonder, Mr Porky and Real Crisps.
Commenting on the move, Tayto CEO Paul Allen said: “It gives us a great brand to add to our portfolio in a market segment which continues to grow especially with those seeking a high-in-protein snack. It also helps with our growth and the scale of our business. This means we now have a third production facility in Tamworth to add to our other two pork production sites in Westhoughton and Wolverhampton”.
