US foods giant Kraft Heinz has announced its plans to invest £140m ($199m) in its Kitt Green food manufacturing facility located in the UK.
According to sources, the investment would be the largest made by the company in a facility outside the US in more than two decades.
The move, which is subject to approval in the US, will fund equipment and technology to modernise the manufacturing capacity, reduce the CO2 footprint, and create up to 50 new jobs.
The investment is expected to bring to Kitt Green facility sauce manufacturing for products, such as Heinz Tomato Ketchup and Salad Cream, in addition to Heinz Beanz which is currently manufactured at the site.
Luis Spinardi, site director at Kitt Green commented: “This is a very exciting time for Kitt Green and I am proud that the potential for the site to grow and modernise is being recognised.”
