Ferrero-relative company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Burton’s Biscuit from Ontario Teachers’ for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition will allow the Italian producer to enlarge its offer of sweet biscuits products by adding to its portfolio British iconic brands such as Maryland Cookies, Jammie Dodgers, Wagon Wheels, Paterson’s, and Thomas Fudge’s, in addition to the six manufacturing sites in the United Kingdom, which are located in Blackpool, Dorset, Edinburgh, Livingston, Llantarnam and Isle of Arran.
The acquisition of Burton’s follows the acquisition of Fox’s Biscuits made by Ferrero in 2020.
Acquired by Ontario Teachers’ in 2013, Burston’s is a UK-leading biscuit manufacturer with a workforce of over 2,000 people, which generated sales of more than £275 million during the past 12 months.
