Froneri, the ice cream joint venture launched by Nestle and R&R Ice Cream in 2016, is to shut two production facilities in Greece and Italy, according to a report in JustFood.
A plant located in Tavros, Greece and a second in Parma, Italy are set to be axed “as part of Froneri’s long-term growth strategy”, the company is quoted as saying, with production to be transferred to other facilities.
Commenting on the move, Froneri CEO Ibrahim Najafi said: “This is about investment and growth for the company as an international manufacturer and is part of the company’s strategy to transform its manufacturing footprint to maintain a competitive advantage and better serve our consumers and customers”.
Headquartered in the UK, Froneri employs 12,500 people across the world, and operates in 20 countries.
