Leading Spanish-based snacks company Grupo Apex has announced the acquisition of a frying facility in Aleson, in Spain’s La Rioja region, as it seeks to bolster its manufacturing capability.
According to a FoodBev report, the facility had been closed since 2021 but was previously operated by Patatas Lahera.
Grupo Apex plans to produce crisps and other savoury snacks in the new plant, which includes a continuous production line, two industrial fryers and two packaging machines.
The investment will reportedly generate more than 50 jobs and is aligned with the firm’s strategy to expand its presence in Spain.
The group plans to start operating the new factory in December and also has plans to increase the number of production lines in 2024.
