Riedel, the leader in the Netherlands for fruit drinks, is acquiring Healthy People, a local juice and snack maker, for an undisclosed sum, according to a Levensmiddelenkrant report.
Founded in 2006, Healthy People is described as being the first company in the Netherlands to introduce a “superfruit” pomegranate juice. Its other products include fruit juices, coconut water, kefir, drinks for infants, smoothies, and dried fruit snacks.
The deal agreed for Healthy People follows on from Riedel’s acquisition of the Hero juice business in September last year, and the company said the purchase was part of its strategy of expanding through inorganic growth.
Commenting on the acquisition, Riedel CEO Bas Boswinkel said he was pleased to expand the firm’s portfolio and bring on board the “unique knowhow” of the Healthy People brand.
“In recent years, Healthy People has demonstrated how you can respond to changing market demands through product development”, he added. “That fits perfectly with the way we want to realize Riedel’s ambitious growth strategy”.
