Japan: Megmilk Snow Brand invests $5.6 million in yoghurt drinks

Japanese dairy specialist Yukijirushi Megmilk (trading as Megmilk Snow Brand) has announced plans to increase production capacity for yoghurt drink in western Japan by extending its Kyoto facility.

The reason for the investment is said to be high demand for on-the-go yoghurt drinks due to heightened health concerns, and the popularity of the company’s Megumi branded Lactobacillus Gasseri SBT2055 Yoghurt Drink.

The new JPY 620 million ($5.6 million) investment will create a new production line for small bottle yoghurt drinks, that will double current production twice. The new operation is planned to begin from 2018 and the product will “match market demand”, according to a company press release.
