Leading corrugated and paper based packaging company Smurfit Kappa is set to launch a new packaging for wine packs that promise an enhanced level of protection.
The triple protection system is said to have been made possible thanks to new tools that have previously been used on production lines for wine bags in France and Spain. According to Packaging News, in addition to the usual seals on a wine bag, the updated version will include two seals on the four corners to protect the wine.
The triple protection bags are claimed to be more resistant to handling as the flow of the liquid is not on sharp angle and the strength is maintained by the round shape. The packaging will also protect the drop of the bag in the box after filling, thus reducing the risk of abrasion.
“We have developed these new seals in order to improve the filling process with severe constraints”, said Cendrine Lallement, R&D manager at Smurfit Kappa.
