The Spanish brewery Mahou San Miguel has created its first wholly owned subsidiary in India with the 100% acquisition of Arian Breweries & Distilleries Ltd. Mahou San Miguel had previously acquired 50% of the company, owned by a local family, two years ago.
Alberto Rodriguez-Toquero, CEO of the company commented: “They have been two exciting years during which, together with our partner, we have learned much about the consumer and the Indian market”. He added, “Now we have the knowledge and experience to take the next step and assume complete control over the development of our business in India. Outdoor activity will be our main driver of growth over the coming years.”
In India, Mahou San Miguel has 60 employees in a plant of 64,125sqm with a capacity for 250,000 hectolitres per year located in Bhiwadi (Rajhastan State). Currently the company markets the local beer Dare Devil but will soon also be offering its own Mahou Cinco Estrellas and Alhambra Reserve 1925 brands.
