Mondelez has recently announced its plans to invest US$110 million to build a new multi-category factory and logistics park in the Novosibirsk region.
According to press releases, the plant will comprise 36.9 hectares and will be the company’s most modern manufacturing facility in Russia, with a capacity of 50,000 tonness per year.
The investment will create about 180 job and will produce brands such as Jubilee, Barney Bear, TUC crackers, Alpen Gold and Milka Air. The company plans to buy basic ingredients such as flour, sugar and powdered milk from local suppliers.
“These investments in Russia are part of a plan to modernize the supply chain. We carry out several projects around the world to benefit from the growing demand in emerging markets, including Russia, as well as actively working on reducing costs and improving productivity,” commented Daniel Myers, executive vice president of integrated supply chain.
Construction of the plant will begin in summer 2014 and will be completed by the end of 2015.
