Coca-Cola, the global soft drinks giant, is tapping into the trend for ‘fizzier’ soft drinks with the launch of a new high-carbonation cola under the Thums Up name in India.
Said to be the first extension to the Thums Up brand in 40 years, Thums Up Charged will offer “an intense combination of the strong taste of Thums Up with even more thunder”, a company spokesperson is quoted as saying. Sugar content is said to be the same as that of regular Thums Up.
Thums Up is India’s leading cola brand, ahead of Coca-Cola or Pepsi by market share. It was acquired by Coca-Cola from biscuit and confectionery firm Parle in 1993.
“Thums Up is among the country’s leading consumer goods brands”, Coca-Cola added. “The launch of Thums Up Charged is in line with the company’s commitment of offering more choices to consumers”.
