Italian firm Sofidel, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of household paper products, has announced the acquisition of German peer Hakle for an undisclosed sum.
In a press release, Sofidel said it was acquiring the toilet tissue brand Hakle, the moist tissue brand Hakle Feucht, and the kitchen towel brands Dick & Durstig and Servus, as well as their respective intellectual property rights and domains.
Commenting on the acquisition, Philippe Defacqz, Sofidel vice president marketing & sales – brand, said: “Thanks to this acquisition, we significantly strengthen our positioning on the German market for toilet tissue and kitchen towels, and also enter a new category, moist toilet tissue”.
Produced since 1928, Hakle is described as the second largest brand in its segment.
