Dutch convenience retailer Spar has announced its first foray into the Latin American market with the opening of an outlet located in Paraguaian city of Luque.
In a statement, Spar said the new store, which opened on 5th May, is operated by Amiria Group, which has been granted a license to operate the brand in the market. Amiria Group already operates a local retail business under the banners Los Jardines and Food Production Centre Innal.
The 737 sq mt store is said to feature a wide variety of products, including a “strong focus” on fresh produce, which is visible from the entrance. It also features a bakery and butchery and employs 28 people.
Spar has reportedly helped the local team by training employees and supporting with store design, marketing and communication campaigns in the lead-up to the opening, providing a “basis on which Spar Paraguay can build”.
