German meat producers Radeberger Fleisch- und Wurstwaren Korch (Korch) and Hermann Wein have announced the two businesses are to combine, according to a report in Lebensmittel Praxis.
Korch’s Original Radeberger Premium Lachsschinken ham is said to be particularly popular in the former east, while Hermann Wein is described as the market leader in Germany for black forest ham.
Rieker Investment, which acquired a stake in Korch in 2022, will remain a shareholder in the merged business, according to reports.
Commenting on the move, Korch managing director Felix Alber said: “By pooling resources, knowledge and purchasing power, medium-sized ham and sausage producers can identify synergies and increase efficiency in order to remain competitive. We are therefore focusing on optimising production processes and the whole commercial operation”.
