Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) has announced an investment of over €40 million ($43 million) in a new production line at its factory in Luneburg, Germany for reusable glass bottles.
The new filling line, which is expected to be operating by summer 2024, is designed for the Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite brands. 30 new jobs are expected to be created as a result of the expansion.
“For the future, we see potential for growth in reusable glass for the entire category of non-alcoholic soft drinks”, commented Florian von Salzen, commercial director at CCEP Germany.
“In the out-of-home market, we assume that the glass trend of the past few years will continue”, he added. “In retail, we would like to open up new potential with additional glass containers”.
CCEP Germany has reportedly invested around €130 million ($139 million) in reusable containers, filling systems and components, the expansion of the reusable bottle pool, and new reusable crates in the last three years.
