Carlsberg, the multinational brewer, has announced it has acquired a minority stake in local beermaker Brasserie Du Pays Flamand via its French subsidiary Brasseries Kronenbourg (BK).
In a statement, BK said the strategic partnership would accelerate the distribution of the Anosteke brand across France. The company also intends to triple production capacity at Brasserie du Pays Flamand’s Merville site to 200,000 hectolitres over the next five years, supported by a €25 million ($27 million) investment.
Commenting on the deal, Brasserie Du Pays Flamand co-founder Mathieu Lesenne said: “This strategic partnership will allow us to intensify our sustainability efforts. In addition, we will strengthen our support for the local economy since we plan to recruit several dozen employees. For us, it is also about ensuring the continuity of the company as we have imagined it since its creation”.
BK vice-president Gregory Bonutto added: “Our partnership with the Brasserie du Pays Flamand enhances the portfolio of products that we can offer to our consumers and customers, adding a premium product from the north of the country. […] Our ambition is to accelerate the growth of the Anosteké brand using our national distribution and via the efforts of the Brasseries Kronenbourg commercial teams in retail and out-of-home”.
