Spanish beef supplier Grupo Miguel Vergara has announced the acquisition of its domestic peer Valles del from wine and beef specialist El Enebro.
Valles del Esla operates an extensive livestock operation in the mountains of the Leon region and markets a range of beef products under its namesake brand.
Commenting on the acquisition, company president and owner Miguel Vergara said: “[This acquisition] not only reinforces our capacity and leadership in the high-quality beef segment, but also strengthens our responsibility in respect of sustainable production, quality, environmental sensitivity, biodiversity and sustainable rural development.”
Grupo Miguel Vergara claims to have Europe’s largest Aberdeen Angus herd and operates as a ‘farm to fork’ business.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
