MANCHESTER – 18th July 2024: Manchester-based global insights specialist Gama is today pleased to reveal the finalists that have been shortlisted for the 2024 edition of the Gama Innovation Awards.
Recognising outstanding innovation in the FMCG space, the products shortlisted for the Gama Innovation Awards represent the very best launches unearthed in the last year by Gama’s global network of in-country researchers and analysts across ten categories: Product, Packaging, Positioning, Branding & Design, Health & Wellness, SME, Best of Britain, Best of Middle East, Travel and Hospitality.
As ever, this year’s 80 shortlisted finalists offer an intriguing glimpse into key trends driving global FMCG innovation over the last year. The high-protein trend is back with a bang, as companies vie to outcompete each other with ‘super-protein’ launches targeting the ‘everyday athlete’. Meanwhile health-oriented alternatives to dairy, meat and sugar remain a focus for innovation, with ingredients such as oats, potato and honey especially popular. Spirulina and seaweed headline many launches touting functional benefits or standing out with eye-catching blue-green colour. Elsewhere, high-tech production is a trend to watch, especially as protein manufacturing techniques such as cultivation and fermentation gain ground.
Commenting on the shortlist, Gama Innovation Director Silvia Ruiz said: “In compiling the shortlists for the Gama Innovation Awards 2024 we sifted through hundreds of new and innovative products from over 50 countries, selecting only the most ground-breaking few for consideration by our expert judging panel”.
“Now into its ninth edition, the Gama Innovation Awards 2024 will be a fantastic opportunity for all of our worthy finalists to take their place in the spotlight, among a select audience of industry thought leaders from across the globe”.
The overall winner in each category, as voted by a panel of international judges, will be announced on Thursday 24th October 2024 during the Gama Innovation Conference & Awards.
