Multinational FMCG firm Unilever has announced that the company is expanding its deodorant plant in Aguai, in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state, via an investment of R$265 million ($46.6 million).
In a press release, the firm said it planned to add a new production line that will increase capacity by more than 30%. The new line will manufacture for Rexona, Dove, Axe and Suave, Unilever’s four primary deodorant brands, the first two of which are market leaders in Brazil.
“The expansion of our deodorant factory is designed to meet growing market demand by offering quality products that inspire consumers’ well-being and confidence”, commented Unilever Brazil Aguai factory director Eduardo Alexandre Machado. “This reflects Unilever’s commitment to faster growth, driven by operational excellence and the promotion of a culture of performance, in one of the company’s most sustainable factories in the world”.
The Aguai factory will undergo a series of expansion works so that the fourth production line can be implemented. The equipment will be installed at the beginning of 2026.
By adding a new line, the firm plans to meet 100% of the demand for aerosol deodorants in Brazil and end reliance on imports from Argentina.
