FMCG giant Mars has announced plans to discontinue its rice brands Uncle Ben’s and Raris in Brazil, with products being gradually withdrawn from sale over the course of the year, according to an article in Giro News.
The two brands offer a range of rice products in pouches, including both white and wholegrain options.
The decision will not affect the company’s employees as the plants currently used to produce rice will continue manufacturing other types of products, the company added.
Mars also highlighted that the company had plans to continue investing in its petcare and Wrigley divisions, including confectionery brands such as M&M’s, Snickers, Twix and petcare brands such as Whiskas, Pedigree, Optimum, Dreamies and Royal Canin.
