Food giant Kellogg has announced plans to invest R$250 million ($40.9 million) to increase production capacity for potato snacks in Brazil.
According to an article in Pipeline Valor, the investment will enable Kellogg to double production capacity for the Pringles brand, just five years after it started producing the snacks locally.
The brand has reportedly seen sales increase five-fold in the intervening period, meaning existing capacity at the Sao Lourenco do Oeste plant in Santa Catarina state is now fully utilised.
Kellogg said it planned to purchase machinery and hire approximately 200 employees to staff the new line.
In addition to serving the Brazilian market, Kellogg reportedly also intends the expanded plant to meet consumer demand from across the nearby region, including Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
