Brazil: JDE Peets acquires tea and coffee brands from JAV Group

Netherlands-based coffee and tea major JDE Peet’s has announced it has completed the acquisition of the tea and coffee business of Brazilian firm JAV.

Terms of the deal, which includes brands such as Cafe Marata, Cafe Puro, Cha Marata and Cha Castellari and which was first announced last July, were not disclosed.

In a statement, JDE Peet’s said the brands, which have a strong presence in the North and North-East regions, complement its existing portfolio which is predominantly sold in the south of Brazil.

Maratá’s portfolio and geographical presence are highly complementary to our existing franchise in Brazil. Together, we will serve more cups across a full range of price points and product offerings while expanding our regional presence in Brazil, one of the world’s largest coffee markets”.
