Soft drinks giant Coca-Cola has announced an investment of €27.9 million ($31.6 million) in its production facility in Ghent, Belgium to install a canned drinks line.

The new can line will be added to the current production lines at the facility, which comprises one glass packaging line and two juice lines.

Commenting on the investment, Bernard Santens, production director at Coca-Cola European Partners said: “The new can line will run at a speed of 120,000 cans per hour and produce different can sizes, including smaller formats. It will allow us to continue to adapt to the evolution of the market and demand from clients and consumers”.

Construction on the facility will start this January and is planned to be finished by autumn 2019.
