The Argentinian arm of global soft drinks giant Coca-Cola has announced an investment of $1.2 billion over three years to modernize its production activities in the country.
The strategy for 2019-2021 comes on top of a $1 billion investment for 2016-2018 which Coca-Cola said it was “executing as planned”, together with local bottling partners Andina, Arca Continental, FEMSA and Reginald Lee.
The planned upgrades and capacity increases in Argentina “form part of Coca-Cola Systems’ efforts to generate genuinely sustainable growth, with positive socioeconomic impact and mindful of the need to protect the environment”, the firm said in a statement.
Commenting on the move, Joao Marcelo Ramires, president of Coca-Cola’s South Latin America unit, said: “We are conscious of the responsibilities we have as a business in these critical times for the country, which is why we are reaffirming our commitment to Argentina, where we have worked passionately for 75 years to create shared value in society”.
