US-based pasta company, Philadelphia Macaron, has announced the acquisition of A. Zerengas’s Sons, for an undisclosed sum.
Having opened its first factory in 1848 by Antoine Zerega, A. Zerega’s Sons is a producer of dry pasta for the foodservice channels, industrial ingredient, and retail.
With this deal, A. Zerega’s Sons will be wholly owned by Philadelphia Macaroni including the manufacture and distribution facilities in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, and Lee’s Summit, Montana.
According to sources, this acquisition creates the largest privately-owned pasta manufacturer in the United States.
Philadelphia Macaroni’s new President and CEO, Ed Irion, said: “Zerega’s wide variety of pasta offerings further enhances Philadelphia Macaroni’s product portfolio and provides an immediate, meaningful presence in the foodservice channel. We believe the combination of these two well-respected pasta companies will provide expanded opportunities for both our customers and employee team members”.
