German retailer Aldi Nord has announced the acquisition of some companies from the beverage firm Altmuehltaler Mineralbrunnen Group.
According to Aldi’s press release, the Altmuehltaler Mineralbrunnen Group is one of the most important producers and bottlers of mineral water and non-alcoholic soft drinks in Germany and the firm employs around 400 people, jobs that will remain secure after the transaction.
The deal includes production sites in Treuchtlingen (Bavaria) and Breuna (Hesse) and Aldi plans to invest in the facilities to increase production of water and other drinks.
Jürgen Schwall, chief purchasing officer of the ALDI North Group said: “The acquisition of the companies with production sites in Treuchtlingen and Breuna gives us the opportunity to maintain production capacities for one of the most important foods in Germany in the long term. This means we can continue to offer our customers high-quality mineral water at the best possible prices in the future”.
