FMCG giant Danone has announced it is ceasing production of Bonafont bottled waters in Brazil, including all of its activities in the Jacutinga plant in the state of Minas Gerais.
According to a FoodBev report, the decision is line with Danone’s decision to focus on dairy and plant-based products and specialised nutrition in the country, which are described as being more profitable and with higher growth rates.
Danone said: “The decision to discontinue the water category in Brazil does not affect other markets where Bonafont is present, nor the Danone’s water category worldwide. Waters is an important category that is at the heart of our mission.”
Mexico is among the countries that will continue to be served by the Bonafont brand, according to soruces.
