Eli’s Cheesecake, a Chicago-based cheesecake and dessert maker has announced that they are expanding their facility in northwest Chicago by 42,000 sq feet.
According to the company, the expansion will allow for the expansion of bakery operations including the addition of new production and packaging lines and new storage areas.
Once the expansion is completed, the facility will cover a total of 104,000 sq feet, including Eli’s Cheesecake’s corporate offices and the company’s public cafe (Eli’s Cheesecake Bakery Cafe) and the it will expand the employee count by 75 with 65 construction jobs for the expansion.
The mayor of Chicago, Lori E. Lightfoot said: “This expansion will allow them to enhance that well-earned reputation by giving them the capacity to put out even more delicious treats and create new ones in the future. I’m excited to see Eli’s Cheesecake continue to grow their business and know this new space will provide them with many new and lucrative opportunities once completed”.
The expansion is led by architect Michael Aragona, the same architect who designed the original Eli’s bakery.
