American private equity firm Acon has announced the acquisition of Alsur, a Spanish-based producer and distributor of preserved and canned vegetables.
Founded by the Jimenez family in 1988, Alsur has production and packaging facilities in Spain, and Peru to serve the US market. The company has its own brand producing also private label products.
According to sources, with this acquisition, Acon intends to “focus on expanding Alsur’s geographic footprint in Spain, continue to drive its sales in the US, as well as develop new product lines”.
Marcos Semmler, managing partner of Acon Southern Europe, said: “We are looking forward to (…) further expand Alsur’s value proposition of high-quality, innovative and easy-to-serve vegetable products for consumption in households across Europe and the United States, which are increasingly focused on healthy living”.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
