Carre Leon, a French start-up firm has created a new culinary aid resembling chocolate bars that is made by blending cocoa butter and vegetables.
Called Carres Futes (translating as ‘Smart Bars’), the product blend is achieved by replacing cocoa beans with whole, dehydrated vegetables. The line is available in three flavours: tomato, pepper, basil and shallot; leek, celery and fennel; and carrot, beetroot & garlic.
Claimed to be a “100% natural and healthy alternative to classic broths” that is also free from additives and salt, the seasoning cubes are designed to be used in sauces, dips and salads.
In a statement, the company said: “We’re targeting consumers who enjoy cooking but don’t have much time. They are looking for ingredients that are natural and tasty but also quick and practical to use. They allow people a certain creativity when cooking”.
