French start-up Carre Leon has created a culinary aid that is made by blending cocoa butter and vegetables in a bar.
Called Carres Futes which translates as ‘Smart Bars’, the product blend is achieved by replacing cocoa beans with whole, dehydrated vegetables and it’s available in three flavours: tomato, pepper, basil and shallot; leek, celery and fennel; and carrot, beetroot & garlic.
The bars are said to be an “100% natural and healthy alternative to classic broths”, being also free from additives and salt. It’s design to be used in sauces, tarts, savoury foods, dips and salads.
In a statement, the company said: “We’re targeting consumers who enjoy cooking but don’t have much time. They are looking for ingredients that are natural and tasty but also quick and practical to use. They allow people a certain creativity when cooking.”
