Swiss food and drink multinational Nestle, has announced the investment of 600 million UYU ($20.8 million) to set up a new operations centre in Uruguay.
The “state-of-the-art” tecchnologies facility, located in El Parque Industrial Zona Este, a suburb of Canelones, will comprise a production plant, a distribution centre and the headquarters of the company in the country in the same location.
“Uruguay is an expanding market for Nestle with many opportunities to develop”, commented Andreas Dürig, country manager of Nestle in Uruguay. “The investment that we are making with the relocation of our operations is one of the most important bets in the region in the last decade. It reinforces our commitment with the country, our employees and our consumers, who are the ones who choose our products every day”.
According to a company press release, the modernization of the processes will make the production of soluble coffee, powdered chocolate beverages, baking premixes and mashed potatoes more efficient.
