Sweetmore Bakeries, a Chicago-based family of specialty bakeries, has completed the acquisition of Fantasy Baking, a manufacturer of private label and branded sweet baked products.

The acquisition marks Sweetmore Bakeries’ sixth facility overall and its first manufacturing site on the West Coast, extending its footprint across the Northeast, Midwest, Southeast, Southwest and West. Following Shore Capital’s 2025 recapitalisation of Sweetmore Bakeries, the deal expands the company’s scale, strengthens its presence in the cookie and baked bar categories, and advances its strategy to build a national coast-to-coast network for premium sweet baked goods. Fantasy Baking joins Main Street Gourmet, Biscotti Brothers, Meurer Brothers Bakery, Sweet Eddie’s, and Azteca Bakeries in the Sweetmore Bakeries family.

Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Sylmar (CA), Fantasy Baking operates an in-house R&D lab. Its product range includes cookies, fruit-filled bars, dessert bars, protein and breakfast bars, dry blends, and ice cream ingredients and inclusions, with capabilities spanning organic, high-protein, non-GMO, gluten-free and kosher solutions.

Sweetmore Bakeries CEO David Veenstra commented: “Fantasy Baking gives us a true West Coast manufacturing footprint and deeper category capabilities that strengthen our ability to serve customers’ various product needs nationwide. Between their R&D bench strength and their reach into better-for-you trends, this addition makes Sweetmore an even stronger strategic national partner”.
