SunOpta, a US developer of beverages, broths and better-for-you snacks, has announced the opening of a newly expanded production line for fruit snacks at its facility in Omak (WA).
According to a company statement, the expansion represents an investment of over $25 million and is expected to increase fruit snacks production capacity by 25% to meet increased customer demand. The Omak facility, which employs more than 260 people, manufactures natural and organic fruit snacks made with an apple base and juice concentrates from various fruits and vegetables.
SunOpta’s Chief Executive Officer Brian Kocher commented: “By investing in our existing footprint and capabilities, we’re strengthening our ability to support customers with the scale, flexibility and reliability they need today and well into the future”.
The company, which recently joined the Refresco business, operates seven manufacturing facilities in six markets. Its research and development team crafts the snacks with no high-fructose corn syrup and no major allergens.
